Greg Dorter, MA: Counsellor and Therapist
I am a Toronto therapist and counsellor located near downtown Toronto. I hold a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology, and have additional training in various approaches to counselling and therapy including cognitive therapy and cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), solution-focused therapy, and narrative therapy.
You'll benefit from my years of experience as a counsellor and therapist helping clients experiencing a number of different issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, trauma, substance abuse and anger.
I've worked with clients from a range of backgrounds, including immigrants and refugees, youth, street-involved clients, people living in poverty, and members of the LGBT community. This has allowed me to develop a very flexible and accommodating approach to counselling and therapy, and helps me relate to you, and understand and appreciate your values and experiences.
I've been practicing mindfulness myself for the past 10 years and have experienced the benefits of mindfulness on a personal as well as professional level. Having benefited from mindfulness so much myself, I am excited to be able to share these benefits with my clients.
I have been active in a number of environmental and social justice causes, and strongly believe in the importance of anti-oppression practices and principles, which I strive to apply in the work that I do. I also have a Masters of Music degree in Composition.I am honoured to have the opportunity to work with so many different people who confide in me and trust me with their most intimate thoughts and feelings. I learn something new from every person I work with, and benefit from working with my clients at least as much as they do.
